Hunter testified yesterday for Compean and Ramos

Cross-posted at Rosemary's Thoughts.

Yesterday Congressman Duncan Hunter (CA-R) testified in front of the Senate of behalf of Border Patrol Agents Mr. Compean and Mr. Ramos. He has sent out a press release for you to be aware of all he is trying to do to have these gentlemen released from prison for which they are in due to bogus charges and the word of an illegal alien drug smuggler. [Emphasis mine.]
For immediate release:
July 17, 2007

Hunter testifies for border patrol agents.
California Congressman seeks full pardon for Ramos and Compean (Washington, D. C.)

United States Congressman Duncan Hunter took his fight to the nation's capitol today (July 17) to convince President Bush to pardon two border patrol agents he feels were unjustly imprisoned. Hunter appeared before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security.

The California Congressman testified that he strongly supports a Presidential pardon of former agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean because, "there is absolutely no justification for such unfair and excessive prison sentences."

The incident dates back to February 2005, when the agents tried to stop a van driven by alleged drug smuggler Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila near the Mexico border. According to court documents, a scuffle ensued between agent Compean and suspect Aldrete-Davila. The suspect broke loose and fled on foot.

Agent Ramos says he believes that he saw a gun, a fact contradicted by the suspect. Both agents reportedly fired at Aldrete-Davila, who fell, then continued his escape across the border. Later, Ramos and Compean filed their official report listing the 743-pounds of marijuana they found in the van, but failed to mention the gunfire.

A Homeland Security agent apparently heard about the episode and traveled to Mexico. According to court documents, the Homeland Security agent offered Aldrete-Davila immunity, if he would testify against Ramos and Compean.

In his testimony today, Hunter took offense to that arrangement. "The U.S. government sadly decided to side with the drug dealer and prosecute agents Compean and Ramos for simply fulfilling their duties as border patrolmen.

The drug smuggler walked away from the incident with only a wound in his rear-end, and the opportunity to attempt another drug run."

Hunter continued, "The men and women of the border patrol are certainly not above the laws they are empowered to enforce, but, they must also know that when they apply the necessary and appropriate level of force, their government will not work aggressively to ensure they are punished while lawlessness is rewarded."

U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, a Bush appointee, prosecuted the agents.

In March, a jury found them guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon, discharge of a firearm during a violent crime, obstructing justice, lying about the incident, and willfully violating Aldrete-Davila's Fourth Amendment right to be free from illegal seizure.

Because there was gunfire, the mandatory-minimum prison sentence the agents will serve is 10 years. The U.S. Probation Office in El Paso, Texas, had recommended 20 years for each of the two agents.

Hunter reemphasized his belief that, "there is absolutely no justification for such unfair and excessive prison sentences."

Hunter's congressional district is in southern California near the border with Mexico. He told the members of the subcommittee, "I represent the border communities, and have for more than 26-years. I have worked with the fine men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol to ensure they receive the support and resources they need to address the constant intrusion of drug and human smugglers across our borders. It troubles me to think that questionable testimony by a drug smuggler, who was granted immunity, and free medical care for his cooperation, was put before the two border patrol agents who willingly accepted this inherently dangerous responsibility."

Hunter noted, "The very day they surrendered to federal custody, I recommended that agents Compean and Ramos be segregated and was assured they would be removed from the general population and close attention was being paid to their personal safety.

The attack against agent Ramos indicates concerns for his personal safety and protection were ignored." On February 6, 2007, Hunter wrote to the President requesting that an investigation be conducted into the attack against agent Ramos.

The letter also requested that Bureau of Prisons Director Harley Lappin be discharged from his position should it be ascertained that the proper precautions were not taken.

Hunter concluded his testimony by emphasizing his belief that, "Pardoning agents Compean and Ramos is the only option available to correct this terrible injustice and, just as importantly, restoring the confidence of the border patrol and the American people that their nation is serious about enforcing its immigration and smuggling laws."

Hunter has said when elected president, his first order of business will be to pardon the agents. Hunter has led the national campaign for border security and immigration reform. He has been joined by scores of his fellow members, and several activist groups.

He was the only Republican Presidential Candidate to attend Tuesday's hearing.

Observers believe that the subcommittee members sought Hunter's testimony because of his long fight for a more secure border and his legislative initiatives.

Hunter drafted legislation that was signed by the President to construct over 800 miles of fence on the southern border. Only a few miles of fencing have been completed. Hunter has charged that the department of Homeland Security has the money and the mandate, but "the administration has a 'case of the slows' in getting the fence built."

He has pledged that, "he will see that the fence is up within six month after he takes office as President.

EU's immigration problem could be our problem

Cross-posted at Rosemary's Thoughts.

As many Americans aware, too many immigrants at one particular time who choose not to learn the language, culture, and traditions on one's new home causes an economic, a strain on welfare of the nation, and they sometimes turn to crime as a last resort. However...
We are all aware of the on going riots and mass car burnings in France, but what many Americans are not aware of is the increasing violence and sexual abuse that is occurring amongst Europe's most Islamicized immigrant communities. From Sweden, to Germany to the Netherlands, all across old Europe the danger, crime and poverty of their Muslim immigrant communities is growing exponentially every year. [Read the whole article.]
As if this were bad enough, and it is horrific, there is more.
I have written before of how England has seen an growing rise in sexual assaults and in the so-called honor killing, a brutal and barbaric practice where members of a girl's own family will kill her if she is even seen in public with the "wrong" kind of man. But, England is by no means an isolated trouble spot. All of Europe is seeing the same thing.
Even if convince the people of the Middle East to put an end to this practice of honor killings, it has already become the norm outside of the South-East Asian area.

It is good to note, however, that some people are gathering the strength, as we did against the illegal alien amnesty, to put an end to what the government has will not. Brussels Journal is being quoted in the article I am referring to:
In March this year, native Dutch residents of the city of Utrecht rioted to protest against harassment by Muslim youths and government inaction to stop this. The authorities immediately suppressed the riots by sealing off the area and installing surveillance cameras to control Dutch non-Muslims, but they have done virtually nothing to address the underlying problem of Muslim violence. And this is far from unique to the Netherlands.
Good for them! Shame on that government!

And to top that off, everyone is government has lost their freakin' minds. (Quoted)
Sweden experienced a quadrupling in the number of rape charges in the space of a single generation. Yet Sweden's largest newspaper Aftonbladet recently indicated that the spike in rape numbers was due to the "warm weather," which would presumably mean that these rapes are caused by global warming. The fact that many of the suspects have a Muslim background is purely coincidental, no doubt.
Even the blind could see this, so I can't even go there. I have no words to express the disgust and shame they should be feeling, not political correctness.

Ah, you are wondering why I declared we could be in danger of the problems in Old Europe. Good point. I'll spell it out now. We import people because too many women have selfishly killed their offspring. Who is going to pay the taxes for their promised retirement? It was never meant to be a guaranteed retirement plan, but that is indeed the way people see it.

Where are they going to find these children? From those families who have bred many. That is where! Follow the money. Illegal aliens? Money. Prescription drugs? Money. Islamists? Money. Be careful what you think. I know of several senators who have accepted quite a bit of money from some uncouth characters...

Remember, the people who flew into the twin towers were not poor, they lived in Germany, and they had a following. How can we safely accept anyone, even white Europeans, on their word? What else is there? An inspection? HA! I laugh in your face! Do you remember Mohammed Atta received his visa extension on the six month anniversary of that unspeakable day for which he was in charge of bringing to completion? Oh yeah, like I'm really going to trust them!

This is a very talented and well written article by Warner Todd Huston. He is writing over at The Conservative Voice. It is a very nice site. I have been receiving news e-mails from them about what is happening in our world that you will never hear about on the TV or possibly even on the radio or the net. I do believe it is a valuable site for us to keep up to date with history as we are making it...or it makes us!

Speak their language

So, they want illegal aliens to move ahead of all the people waiting for years to come here, but they did it the proper way, eh? Do you feel as though there is nothing you can do? Do not fret!

I want to hear those phones a'ringing! Go get 'em, guys. We'll bring them to their knees. When they come with hands out this time, you know exactly what to do. Hand them the name of this bill, Comprehensive Immigration Reform, in the size of a check!

NoAmnestyPetition.com

Below is an e-mail I received today and signed. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. Have a nice day.

Thank you for standing up for real border security. Together, we won the first battle on amnesty – a victory achieved by the strength of grassroots activism like yours.

The battle is not over. Last week, Senator Harry Reid announced that the amnesty bill will return to the Senate floor for a new round of votes. Now is the time for action – the voices of those opposed to amnesty must be heard, so we can finish Ted Kennedy’s amnesty plan once and for all.

Take Action Against Amnesty Now – Ask Five of Your Friends to Sign the Petition at www.noamnestypetition.com.

America’s insecure borders are an enormous threat to our national security – a liability we can not afford in the struggle against gang violence on our streets or in the Global War on Terror.

Together, if we can reach 20,000 signatures on the petition, then we will take our message to the airwaves with radio ads on the immigration bill. We can reach this goal. Ask your friends, colleagues, and family to sign the petition at www.noamnestypetition.com.

History is largely defined by a handful of decisions made at critical moments. This is one such time. The course our nation takes during this border security debate will shape the course of America for a generation. We must preserve the rule of law and we must build real border security.

Regards,
NoAmnestyPetition.com.

P.S. Support like yours made victory in the first round possible. Now, help stop reckless amnesty once and for all, by getting five of your friends to sign the petition at www.noamnestypetition.com.

And as for you, Mr. Cracker-er-Graham...

You, sir, are a bigot. Only bigots call other people names when they do not have a proper (or any other kind) of argument, facts, ideas, etc. to discuss an issue. You think you are so important. Take it from me, you are not. There were South Carolina Senators before you, and there will South Carolina Senators after you. Yes, you are replaceable. My only concern is that it won't be quick enough!

My name is Mud, according to Trent Lott

Boy, this is not what I wanted to talk about! It just slipped out. Yes, I am one of those people who happens to listens to one of those eeeeeeeeeeeevil boxes where they hide all them there talking peoples. Yup, they let them go every 10 or 15 minutes to go potty. You know, with all that union stuff, it's probably required. Oh my, don't you just love all this freedom?

Trent Lott, you are too loud. You are soooo loud that I think you may need a long break from public service. You obviously have forgotten which country and state you were elected, by the privilege of the good people of Mississippi, to serve. Not belittle. Not yell at. Not ignore. Yes, I do believe it is time to end your political career. What do think about that?

Tough! This is America, and you CANNOT shut me up. Bigger and better people than you have tried, and they have failed. :)

1,000,000 American March

Enough talk. Enough phone calls. The Senate, the House, and the president do not care whether we do not like this bill for amnesty or not. So what do we do?

We all get together, Americans who happen to be of Mexican, Asian, African, European, etc. descent, and march on the walls and halls of Washington. Let them know we WILL be heard, and they WILL listen. They do work for US, the American citizens. Not invaders. Not al Qaida. Not Hizbullah. Not Hamas. Not anyone except US citizens. After all, we are the only ones that are supposed be allowed to vote, as if that happens.

I've had it with all the name calling by Senators, Congressmen and the president, that does not have to live the way we, as American citizens, do. As a teen, I worked as a waitress. I tried to get a job out here in California, but I could not get hired. Why not? I don't (and will not) speak Spanish. It is not because I find the language offensive, I do not. I love the language. I even speak enough of it to get by. The problem is, and it's a big one for most Americans, that I don't want anyone telling me that I HAVE to do so.

If you do not desire me telling you about Jesus Christ, then do not force me to speak your language in my own country. Period. Anyone. And you say it is the Christians trying push our agenda down your throats? HA! When is the last bill you heard of that said, "You must be a Christian"??? You have not, because it was put into the constitution that you can believe in whatever you choose. So get out of my face.

I will stand up for what I believe, and you had better believe that! I have that right just as much as you do. Being a Christian does NOT exclude me from politics. No. Just the opposite. It calls me to be responsible enough to get informed, be involved, and don't be lazy.

You will take this land that was given to us by God Almighty, where we made a solemn oath to Him in the Mayflower Compact, over my dead body.

Getting back to the point at hand. We need to make these 536 people realize that we mean business. That we are serious. In the mean time, do not stop calling that toll free number (866) 340-9281. Let them hear you. Be polite. Be firm, and do not allow them to lie to you. Refute them with facts.

1,000,000 American March is a pipe dream, and I know it. But wouldn't it be sweet?

Oh? You really believe this bill is off the table? Or is this a ploy to get us off their backs and off our guard? You know how politicians are. Who do you believe? Would you rather be wrong and have taken steps to stop them just in case, or would you rather sit back and get taken to the cleaners...one more time? I thought so. The petition is at the site. Thank you, and have a great day.

Update: No longer do I print it that it comes out it print in the Opinion Journal: The 'Amnesty' Canard, Sen. Jon Kyl talks about efforts to forge an immigration compromise. I was saying on Thursday that this bill was not dead while everyone was rejoicing. Okay, I let you have your moment. Why not? We worked hard for that moment, but that moment has passed. Let's get back to work as soon as possible to let these people know we mean business! Ready, set, GO!

We defeated the Senate's cloture vote...for now

The vote was 45-50, and it included Byrd, Boxer, Durbin and other Democrats. I do not trust them. I do believe they want to give us a false sense of security so they can do a midnight vote without us knowing about it. I pray our inside spies keep us apraised. Until then...pray!

Speaking of illegal aliens...

Has the world gone mad or am I the only one left in the world (besides the 2/3rds of Americans who agree with me) that understand the meaning of the word: Illegal?

Illegal alien: a person who has enter a country without permission, an invader.

The Constitution of the United States specifically states:

Article IV.

Section. 4. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic violence.
I just thought maybe the congress might want to take a looksie at this. It just so happens that it is not racist to demand our elected officials fulfill their obligations under the full faith and trust of the CITIZENS of these here United States of America.

If you will just take a look around yourself, we have been blessed with people from all over the world. To call us racist is to show how truly ignorant you are. No, we are not elitists like the Congress. I swear, I hope that each one of you who votes for this amnesty bill gets thrown out of office the next time you are up for reelection. You disgust me.

Update: Does anyone really believe that if we had an Army of over 20 million Soldiers that Iran would continue to spit in our face?

My comment to Daniel Henninger

How unfortunate for Mr. Henninger that there was a tape running while the WSJ was spewing their uneducated slovishness. I was one of the people who heard this hatred of people who do want more than just money. This is the comment I left for him, just in case it is never printed.
We have your number now, so whatever you say is meaningless. That is a
shame, because you are an intelligent person. That is why it is shocking to hear the words I've heard you say about people who disagree with you, the almighty know-it-all.

Do you not realize your credibility is something which cannot bought? To call me a racist is very low, since you have no idea in the world who I am.

I'll bet you are not even man enough to accept the challenge by the NRO. I may be wrong. Will you? I know I am only one of several hundred thousand awaiting your response. Who knows? You may learn a thing or two from people who have actually READ THE AMNESTY BILL.
The NRO has challenged them to a debate on the so-called 'comprehensive immigration' bill. Now all we do is wait...

PS. He wrote this article: How About Amnesty for the Market?. Conservatives will pay a price for demoting econoimc forces in immigration.

Update: A challenge from the National Review. A must read. It also includes the video of their meeting where they called us 'racists'!

When you can't debate, call names. Very grown-up, eh?

Dear President Bush,

I have supported you on almost every issue. I have also been a United States citizen my entire life. So was my Mom and Dad. My Mother is Mohawk, and my Father is Armenian. His parents escaped Stalin...legally. We love this country and all her citizens. Well, almost all. We don't really care too much for the criminals. Actually, it's the crimes we don't care for, the criminal is still a child of God. I do belong to Chuck Colson's Prison Ministry.

How dare you call me a racist. I expect an apology from you. You, of all people, ought to know better. Your Mother taught you better than that. So you are backed into a corner because more than two-thirds of the country believe in a small thing known as Sovereignty. That does not give you the right to demean us. By the way, have you even read the bill yet?

Yes, we disagree with you. So do the anti-Americans! You show them more respect, and you give them a platform that is tearing this country apart! They are also giving aid and comfort to the enemy, but do you prosecute them? NO! You praise them.

This is not a difficult problem. All you have to do is ENFORCE the LAWS already on the books. Instead, you have tied the hands of the border control. Let one or two of them try to do their job, and they get thrown in prison for ten and eleven years respectfully! That is not respect. That is cowardice. You are allowing people who have no right to be here have a vote.

What you are doing, sir, in essense, is giving amnesty without represention. Do you remember what happened the last time the American people were this angry over taxation without represention?

Have a good day, and God bless you. May He move your heart to do the right thing according to the Constitution of the United States.

Update: Will this guy get a z-visa?
On October 15, 2006, a young Saudi Arabian male named Anwar Al——,* (His full name will not be used for legal reasons) claiming to be an engineering student at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, presented what must have been false documents to United States Customs and Immigration (CIS) at an east coast airport and managed to slip into the country illegally. This is something that is not easily done: for a citizen of Saudi Arabia to get into the United States to attend an institution of higher learning requires the scrutiny of multiple, Cabinet level federal agencies. Customs was the last line in a series of Homeland Security controls that began halfway around the world at the US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Anyone who has picked up a newspaper since September 11, 2001 understands why this is the procedure: fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers were Saudi nationals. [Continue reading.]
After all, he arrived here before January 1, 2007...

NRO vs. WSJ on immigration

Hey WSJ OJ, have you read the bill yet?

How dare you call conservatives 'cultural racists' when you haven't even read the 'amnesty' bill. Just because you want cheap labor and to treat people like slaves, how dare you insult me in this fashion. I am going to get my hands on that clip and post it here if I can. Paul Gigot, it turns out I was right about you. You never were a conservative. You should stop pretending you are.

The gauntlet has put out there. NRO is willing to debate the WSJ. Is the WSJ man enough to come out from behind their cozy little desks to debate, in public, this issue? Time will tell...tick tock...tick tock...tick tock...

Update: Pardon me. The title should read, "NRO vs. WSJ on Illegal Aliens." Thank you.

Update 2: A challenge from the National Review. A must read. It also includes the video of their meeting where they called us 'racists'!

We're not a land of 'immigrants', we're AMERICANS

I am getting so tired of being referred to as an immigrant. I am 1/2 Mohawk and 1/2 Armenian. I know absolutely NO Armenian. For that matter, I know absolutely no Mohigan either. I am still proud to be what I am. It is nice to know where I came from, but to that extent is all I am? NO!

I am a true-blue blooded American. When the census comes around and they ask me for my race, I put down 'other' and write in, "American."

We are tearing ourselves apart with this multiculturism. How can be 'united' when we do not share the same history, the same language, the same memories, the same heroes, the same holidays, the same philosophies, the same attitudes toward Capitalism and the same goals?

Of course they are each individual. Of course they can be viewed in different hues. But how can they viewed at all when we do not communicate WITH each other instead of AT each other? We are talking past one another, and we cannot solve anything this way.

If you want to discuss illegal aliens, why don't you try looking at it through the lenses of an American? Oh, you are American? Okay, then why do you want to live in a country without Sovereignty?

Do you realize this is only another way to enslave people with government approval? You don't think so? Then you, my friend, have no idea what is really happening in the illegal alien trade. These people are brought here by businesses who pay them maybe a dollar per day or per hour if they're lucky. Some only get paid by what they produce.

This is not to mention the women whom are brought here as sex slaves. They will kill you if you try to escape. What do I mean, 'women.' I meant, 'girls.' If you ever have your daughter stolen, she may just be someone's sex slave who makes lots of money for him. So don't worry about, right?

What are their safety procedures? Forget it. There are none. Can they leave if they like? You are really pulling my string, right? They do not have anything that resembles human rights, with the blessing of our government as it stands.

So what should we do? ENFORCE THE LAWS. We already have laws against slavery. We already have laws against hiring illegal aliens. We already have laws about being in this country illegally. What in God's name is so hard about that?

Texas to Guard Borders?

I found this little tidbit over at RealClearPolitics.
Gov. Rick Perry said Monday he will send a dozen armed security platoons from the Texas Army National Guard to help law enforcement officers secure the border.

The 604 newly activated troops are to be part of Operation Wrangler -- an interagency law enforcement effort aimed at reducing crime and increasing security across the state.

The troops will stay active for an undisclosed period of time in areas across Texas. A spokeswoman for the governor said she could not elaborate "on the timing or places, but the surge operation will be on a statewide level."
Hmm...do you think they are finally hearing us or is this just for show? I have no idea, since everything seems to only matter if they can re-elected or not! Let's hope my skeptism is wrong.

Bush 'Considers' Pardoning Border Agents

I have written a post over at Knickerbocker News earlier today about President Bush' 'possible' pardon.
There has been a travesty, and Rep. Duncan Hunter-along with many others-are trying to remedy this. Two Border Patrol Agents have been sentenced to 11 years and 1 day (Jose Alonso Compean) and the other Agent is to serve 12 years (Ignacio Ramos) on January 17, 2007.

Of all the nonsense, they are imprisoned for doing their job. We should should all be afraid that we are losing our borders. Especially when our own government imprisons us for fighting to keep our own property, our borders, and safety from drug dealers.

President Bush may pardon these men, but they will no more plead guilty than apologize. They did nothing wrong, in my opinion. You enter my country illegally, you sell your poisin to our children, you take jobs from our children, and you are not a USA citizen. You do not have any rights guaranteed under OUR constition! How dare you, and how dare our justice system for prosecuting these men for shooting him in the buttocks. It's about time someone stood up to the plate.

I would like to add my opinion, as if I was able to write without it. This is affecting the morale of our Border Patrol. Would you like to work for a boss that throw you in jail for doing your job? Then call President Bush at 1-202-456-1111 and express your anger. This should never have gone this far. After all, why should illegal aliens have more rights than USA citizens?! Outrageous...
