Mahoney buys silence for $660 million

Cross-posted at Rosemary's Thoughts.

Before I start this post, please allow me to set the record straight. I am not Catholic. I am a First Southern Baptist Christian. I hold no ill feelings toward those people who choose to be Catholics. I am grounded enough in my faith not to allow anything that anyone says about their religion or mine to bother me, but I will tell what does bother me.

When someone claims the title as a Christian, then publicly acts anyway they choose except as a Christian. I know I have failed in this category, so I understand how easy it is fall off the path and start walking as if we are of this world and not just in it. For this, I repent of my sins of cussing and not reading my Bible as I should.

I have looked in the mirror at myself, and I have taken the log out of my eye. Now let's turn to the speck in Cardinal Mahoney's. To stay in your position as Cardinal of any Church is an even more egregious sin. For these men to continue their grotesque sin and crime, they needed your enablement. They needed your cloak to cover them, and that is exactly what you gave them. Shame on you!

Let's look at this situation as the unbeliever would. There are many religions out there, and every person is going seek the meaning of life at least one point in their life. They ultimately turn to God. You and I know that there is only One True God. We are His representatives, like it or not. What they see on the outside is how God will be judged. What do you think someone looking at you will think?

EDITORIAL NOTE: If you do not agree with me about MY religion, don't bother writing a disagreeable comment. I know there are many who do not believe this. THIS IS WHAT I BELIEVE, and I have that right as much as you do.

To continue. Anyone who has the authority over His flock and leads astray one of His very own would be better off to tie a mulberry bush around his neck and throw himself into the ocean! These are not my words. It is not I who says this, but the LORD. Does that matter to you?

These people who search for God will now have trouble with a Christian God, because this is a big deal. I can tell you that the people who harmed me will never be able to pay me more than I've already paid personally for their crimes. Do not find your hands washed of these crimes against children and humanity. They are not. They cannot be.

How many people are going to Christ now? How many are turning away? What you have done is outrageous and sinful. You are just as guilty as those men, and you should not remain a Cardinal. Not in a Church anyway. You have broken the Holy laws of God and the trust of mankind. The only way to regain the Hope in Christ is for you to leave your post. If you are truly sorry, if you truly love Christ, if you truly desire His flock to be saved, you shall retire your position in the Church. Then again, that's only if you remember we may be in this world, not of it.

SCOTUS rules, Right drools, Left moos

Cross-posted at Rosemary's Thoughts.

It's the only word that I could think of that rhymes, okay? Now let's move forward. The SCOTUS may have to go back and look at the way they ruled on the McCain/Feingold Incumbant Protection Act-er-Campaing Finance Reform Act.

They have ruled today on FEC v. Wisconsin Right to Life (No. 06-969) and McCain v. Wisconsin Right to Life (No. 06-970). The outcome was finally correct. Most normal people may breathe a sigh of relief. Finally, the court has decided that it cannot take away our free speech rights. Especially during a campaign!

If you would like to read any of the decisions, you will find them here:
You can read the ACLJ amicus brief here.
You can read the Supreme Court decision here.

Led by Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, the American Center for Law and Justice specializes in constitutional law and is based in Washington, D.C.
There is another case that was disclosed today. Hein v. Freedom From Religion Foundation (U.S. No. 06-157). This one is about some athiets trying stop the use Faith Based programs. You can more here. You may also find related sources here:
ACLJ Pleased Supreme Court Loosens Limits on Election Advertising.

Reuters - Supreme Court: Taxpayers Can't Sue on Faith-Based Plan.

CNS News - Supreme Court Says No to Challenge of Federal Faith-Based Initiative.

ACLJ Represents Members of Congress in Asking Supreme Court to Uphold Constitutionality of Child Porn Law.

ChurchReport.com - A Supreme Court Vacancy Looming?

Full Issue Brief.
I am getting so fed up with the ignorance of the American people. THERE IS NO SEPERATE OF CHURCH AND STATE. Read your constitution if you don't believe me. Show me where you find those words! Besides, if it were so, why did they have prayers and Church inside the Congress? HMM? Oh, you did not know this? See, that's what I'm talking about. I am not saying people are stupid. I wouldn't do that. I am saying you are ignorant to the facts of history.

(Probably for the same reason I was/am. I was bored to tears by the teachers I got stuck with! But now we have no excuse. We are older.) After Psalm 96, read the 5th paragraph. You will find that our FIRST President and our FIRST congress recognized God Almighty. If, as they are trying to say now, we are to have no contact with our Maker, I dare say, how are we supposed to live? Like animals? I WILL NOT!

I'm quite sure there are many more souces (just look in our governmental archives), but I really must get going. I have much work to do over at DoD Daily News-2, DoD Daily News and Rosemary's Thoughts. I've decided to consolidate everything I write over at Rosemary's Thoughts. Plus, I am going to writing over there by myself and for myself. Since it's new, I can spill my guts and no one will notice. lol. Everyone have a nice day.

PS. Even the Left should be grateful, even though this ruling did not go their way. This ruling did go the way of Free Speech. At least for THAT we can agree.

Please continue praying for Danny's family

Crossposted at Loving God Holy.

Some of my readers may have seen this request over at my homepage, My Newz 'n Ideas, but I have a little more news about this situation. It is also quite humorous. It was written by Linda, Danny's wife. I would like to share it with you.
    Life is a Fartlek

My husband has a text file stored on his computer entitled, Wise Things I've Said. Today he's adding another to the list which is the title of this entry.

This morning Danny and I were discussing all kinds of subjects and then we started talking about struggles that I've been through in the past six years. And just recently a new struggle has shown its ugly head.

Several years ago when my husband went to John Brown University in Arkansas, he was friends with a guy named Jonathan Beverly who was an avid runner. Jonathan is now editor-in- chief of Running Times. Jonathan once told Danny that you know you're really a runner when you can use the word "fartlek" in a mixed crowd and not be embarrased.

According to Dictionary.com this is its definition,
"a training technique, used esp. among runners, consisting of bursts of intense effort loosely alternating with less strenuous activity."

    Dictionary.com. Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1). Random House, Inc. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fartlek (accessed: June 01, 2007).
This morning as we talked through my struggles, Danny popped out a quotable quote, Life is a fartlek. He is so right as in applying this to my life. As a Christian, God puts things in my life to keep me growing. At the age of 40, I can look back and see periods of time when it was really stressful and then other periods of when life was so calm I was bored and uninspired to do anything. God does this to me to help me grow but not continuously overwhelm me that there's too much to handle. At times in life where there is great stress I truly know God would not push beyond the stress level I could handle. But He would push me to my limit so I would run to Him for help and strength which would also cause my faith to grow.

Another good quote by my husband, Life is a fartlek.
Linda's Thoughts is a wonderful site where you may go to encourage Danny's wife. Let her know you are praying for her. She is a beautiful and thoughtful writer, and she is a very warm person. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, and God bless you.

Can you reform a terrorist?

There is a Muslim who used to be a terrorist. He is now warning people against terrorism. He wrote an article in the Opinion Journal yesterday, and I found it very well written.
To bring an end to Islamophobia, we must employ a holistic approach that treats the core of the disease. It will not suffice to merely suppress the symptoms. It is imperative to adopt new Islamic teachings that do not allow killing apostates (Redda Law). Islamic authorities must provide mainstream Islamic books that forbid polygamy and beating women. Accepted Islamic doctrine should take a strong stand against slavery and the raping of female war prisoners, as happens in Darfur under the explicit canons of Shariah ("Ma Malakat Aimanikum"). Muslims should teach, everywhere and universally, that a woman's testimony in court counts as much as a man's, that women should not be punished if they marry whom they please or dress as they wish. [Continue reading (registration required and free).]
The only thing that really disurbs me is that they told us how they operate. They blend in, they become a part of the community. How do we know this is not a plot? I will NOT apologize. I feel this way, and he is correct. You need to look at yourselves.

When 9/11 happened, I was one of the first to make sure nothing happened to you. You act like I am the enemy. If I am, don't be a coward. Tell me to my face so I can kick your arse all the way out of my country. If not, stand up for your relatives and friends back in the middle east! My God, what's wrong with you?

Rev. Falwell died today. May he rest in peace

Rev. Jerry Falwell founded the Moral Majority around 1980, and he was a major player in helping to elect President Reagan. Here is a little of what Yahoo News has written about him:
The fundamentalist church that Falwell started in an abandoned bottling plant in 1956 grew into a religious empire that includes the 22,000-member Thomas Road Baptist Church, the "Old Time Gospel Hour" carried on television stations around the country and 7,700-student Liberty University. He built Christian elementary schools, homes for unwed mothers and a home for alcoholics.

He also founded Liberty University in Lynchburg, which began as Lynchburg Baptist College in 1971. [Continue reading.]
This is where they found Rev. Falwell unconscious. They rushed him to the hospital, applied CPR, but it did not bring back our beloved friend. You will be missed, Rev. Falwell. May you rest in piece.

Georgia schools elective: The Bible

This is wonderful news! Due to a law passed recently, some schools are choosing to allow their students the choice of taking a course entitled, "The Bible in History and Literature." I found this over at The Scrooge Report. You really should check it out. The only thing I wonder about is why does he consider himself to a scrooge? :)

Christian Teacher in Nigeria Murdered by Muslims

Those oh-so-peaceful Muslim students murdered their Christian secondary grade school teacher. [If that link does not work.] The government has closed down the school indefinitely, and he has promised the family of the victim that he will do everything he can to find the scum who did this awful thing. We shall see...
