Rice Calls on Libya to Free Jailed Nurses
By Anne Gearan, AP
SOFIA, Bulgaria - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday that Libya must release five Bulgarian nurses imprisoned on charges they intentionally infected children with HIV while doing AIDS research.

"The Bulgarian nurses have been too long in captivity," Rice said following a ceremony to open Bulgarian military bases to wider U.S. use. "This is a humanitarian case and it is time for them to come home."

Nepal PM-designate fails to show as parliament opens
By Gopal Sharma
KATHMANDU (Reuters) - Nepal's parliament reopened on Friday for the first time in four years, but the country's 84-year-old prime minister designate was too ill to attend the opening or his swearing-in ceremony.

The House began with two minutes of silence for the victims of anti-monarchy and pro-democracy street protests, in which at least 12 people died and thousands were wounded.

Outside thousands of Nepalis surrounded the gates of parliament, waving party flags and chanting slogans to keep up pressure for a new constitution.

Update: I had a feeling this might happen. Yahoo news sucks. Sorry. Next time I will try to remember to have more than one source. Thank you.

Update: The BBC has an article on this news story on Nepal. Forbes has a news article on Dr. Rice's call for Libya to free the nurses while in Bulgaria. From now on, there will be more than one news source. I should have learned from the NY Times, eh? lol.
