Set Ganji Free

As I have been arguing, the Iranian government cannot be trusted in any way. They will lie to their own people, so why should they not lie to us?

Akbar Ganji was promised his freedom if he would stop his hunger strike. I did not believe he gave up his strike, because he is a principled person. He refused to stop his hunger strike upon his mentor's request, so why would he stop for the government he hated?

As a young student, he did participate in the hostage taking, following the Ayatollah. He was very influenced by him. He has now seen the corruption of the Iranian regime from working inside. He became a reporter and a writer of many books.

In his books, he disclosed the murderousness of this regime. He named names. He called them out. What did he get for doing this? Six years in prison of which he has completed over five. He was jailed in the year 2000.

His lawyer, Shirin Ebadi who is the winner of the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize, told Reuters that he should have been released much earlier on parole, because he has done almost all of his time. For the full story, read here.
