America Supports You News

Marvel Comics has created a custom military-themed comic book featuring beloved and well-known super heroes in the Marvel Universe, including Captain America and the Fantastic Four as the centerpiece of their America Supports You participation. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld joined superheroes Captain America and Spiderman at the Pentagon April 28, to announce that Marvel has joined the America Supports You team. Comic books were distributed to Pentagon employees and their children. More than one million copies of the "Salute Our Troops" comic book will be distributed this May to the troops and their families in the U.S. and also in forward-deployed locations through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. Dolly Parton and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's appearance at the Grand Ole Opry received more than 100 online mentions this week. The story also ran on a CBS News report, CNN Headline News, Showbiz Tonight, WRC - Washington, DC, WNBC of New York and MSNBC to name a few!

Mrs. Rumsfeld was featured in Parade magazine. She encouraged citizens to log onto americasupportsyou.mil for ideas on how to support our military men and women. A photo with her and troops in Afghanistan was also included.

Team member of the week: Wounded Warriors supports hospitals and medical facilities in Afghanistan, Iraq, Germany and the United States by donating morale and comfort items such as televisions, DVDs, computers and peripherals to patients and hospital staff.
